Dad's Birthday!

Dad's birthday is next weekend but because they will be in Atlanta for the opening football game for Bama, we decided to celebrate early. Joey came up from Tuscaloosa and Michael and myself drove down to Birmingham for the festivities. All the kids chipped in to get Dad a 19 inch flat screen Sanyo tv for his hot tub viewing pleasure. (he was thrilled!) After we gave Dad his gift we went to Costa's. It is this little Greek Restaurant in Hoover and it was FANTASTIC! After stuffing ourselves we went back to the house for cake (pictures below!) and coffee and just enjoyed everyone's company. It was so nice going home and seeing everyone. Happy Birthday Daddy!!!

Fabulous Fondant!

Two trips to Wal-mart, one trip to Hobby Lobby, and one trip to Publix and about 6 hours(breaks included) I actually made my very first fondant cake! I think it turned out really really great, especially for my first time. I really enjoyed making the cutouts, I stuck to the Alabama A and just dots. Next I really want to do more with layers and ribbons. I think a two layer is perfect because you can contrast. I took pictures throughout the whole process! I hope my Dad has a great birthday celebration with his Alabama red velvet cake! Yay!
