Memorial Day 2010

On Saturday I packed up the Jeep and headed to my college friend Cat's parents lake house on Lake Guntersville! We had a BBQ, a fantastic lake house, a birthday party and fun in the sun for the one hour it didn't rain! I owe Cat's parents a homemade thank you card for their hospitality, it was a wonderful weekend and we have pictures to prove it!!

We went into the boat house and knocked the chair into the lake and had to fish it out with a fish net, it was hilarious because all 3 of us almost fell in but thanks to teamwork, we fished out the chair!

Going home always does the soul good

This weekend I went home for a well overdue trip to catch up with the parents. Lately I have been so busy with monogramming, weddings, baby showers etc. I haven't had time to even think! But I headed home Friday for some food and fun with the rents and even got to catch up with a college friend!

Saturday morning over coffee we scoured over Southern Living magazines to find cute ideas and get a theme. On July 3rd we will be hosting what we hope to become an annual event each year, the Aultman Family Reunion! We then headed over to the Alabaster thrift store and had a ball! After dinner I headed over to my friend Kendall's house to do some gossiping and monogramming. I have a friend who just had twins so I made two of these onesies over at her house. Her hubbie is so sweet to let us get loud and rowdy, just monogram up a storm. They are two of my most favorite people!
I stayed with Kendall Saturday night and on Sunday we woke up and went to her church in Birmingham, The Church of the Highlands. IT. WAS. AMAZING! I will be driving down just for church serveral more times because it really blew me away! If you get a chance check out the website and download some of Pastor Chris' sermons. Wedding Season has officially begun!

Saturday I was ask to be a date for a guy I just started dating. He took me to Hartselle, AL for his best friend's sister's wedding. It was a lovely service at Hartselle First Baptist and guys her dress was to die for! I got to meet his parents, two brothers and several of his friends. After the ceremony we headed to downtown Decatur for the reception. It was so pretty with hydrangeas everywhere. We danced, ate and just flat out had a ball. His family was so sweet and funny! His mom and I did the electric slide, which brought back 6th grade gala memories(cannot believe I remember how to do it!) and the whole family participated in the YMCA.
After the reception we went to Hard Docks and I got an opportunity to meet his best friend Zack and his lovely fiance Ashley, who I adore! I also met Zack's sister and Jason's brother Daniel. We had a blast just talking about growing up and all the silly things we got into. Jason was a great date and I had soooo much fun!

Mother's Day 2010

Today is Mother's Day so Mr. Biggs and I made the drive down to Birmingham. I got my mom a hydrangea, a new tote, and some jewelry. We met my brother at Two Pesos for lunch and had great conversation just Mom and the kids. Unfortunately, Dad had to fly out this morning to go to St. Louis so he was not able to join the family celebration but I have a sneaking suspicion my mother actually enjoyed just having us all to herself. It was a great afternoon just catching up on what is going on in all of our lives, our careers, Joey's move to Atlanta next month, the furniture that we are giving/keeping/donating, and just life in general. It was a beautiful day so we sat in the sunshine on the patio laughing and enjoying each other's company.

I have to say that my mother is an extraordinary woman. She has devoted her life to making ours the best it can be and she truly deserves more than one day of celebration for bringing us into this big world and raising us up into adults. She has sacrificed more for her children than most mothers do and has always put my brother and myself before her own needs and desires. She made choices others wouldn't for their children and for that I will always love and respect the woman she is and who she made me into. She is the most caring and considerate person I know and would give anything she has to anyone in need. She is a compassionate, intelligent, giving Christian woman that I may not always agree with (we like to butt heads occasionally) but will never stop admiring. I love you Mom, you are everything I aspire to be in a mother and I sincerely appreciate what you did and continue to do each and every day.

Rocket City Brewfest 2010

On Saturday I went to the Rocket City Brewfest! The Brewfest is one of the primary fundraisers for Free the Hops, an all-volunteer non-profit in Alabama. It is the widest selection of craft beer available in North Alabama. A portion of the festival proceeds go towards Free the Hops' efforts to lobby the Alabama Legislature for greater consumer choice over the range of beers widely available in other states and to reform the beer laws of Alabama.

It was held at the Historic Depot in downtown Huntsville. There were tents lining the railroad tracks and each tent is a different vendor that serves you a little sample in this tiny glass and I probably tried over 20 different beers. Some were dark and strong, some fruity, some dry and some were just HORRIBLE. I quickly discovered I like lights and pale ales. The worst was Hoegaarden, it was terrible! My favorite was one close to the beginning and I honestly cannot remember what the name was!

This was my first beer festival and honesty it was just nice to get out in Huntsville and do something different. I saw a few friends and made some new ones! Great little Saturday afternoon!

A-Day Weekend!

Anna and I headed down to Tuscaloosa to see the A-Day game. We drove down Friday night and stayed with my brother until Sunday. After getting settled in at the condo, Anna and I headed out to see her sister and her husband. It only took us about an hour of walking around in heels to find this tiny place called Alcove that neither of us had ever been to. We finally arrived and it was such a treat to meet some of her family! After catching up for a bit, Anna and I headed out to meet up with my brother and his friends.

On Saturday I went shopping at the Limited, since we do not have one in Huntsville or Birmingham. I got two pairs of much needed pants! Anna and I watched the A-Day game together and then headed out to meet our friends!
It was so much fun seeing people I went to high school and college with, old clients from the Crimson White and all the new people I got to meet. I was really excited to meet Anna's good friend Tara, she is such a sweetheart!

I had a blast with good friends in Tuscaloosa but I must admit I am ready to get back to reality for a bit! A-day weekend was a complete success and so much fun!

David Gray Concert

After a day of roller coasters I headed to downtown Atlanta to see David Gray perform live at the Atlanta Civic Complex.I have never been to a more amazing concert. David Gray was everything I had hoped it would be and more! He is an amazing artist and I prefer him live to his CD, all the songs have more meaning and excitement! It was the best $100 I have spent in a very long time, I am hoping to go see him again in August at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
